Salmon River's MacCabe consents to trial

TRURO - A Salmon River man charged with accessory after the fact to murder has consented to trial.

Gerald Leslie MacCabe, 44, of 16 Old Salmon River Branch Rd., appeared in provincial court to set a date for a preliminary hearing on the charge, which involves Jeffrey Albert Lynds' charge of murdering Randall Armand Mersereau.

MacCabe consented to the committal to stand trial on the charge of assisting Lynds for the purpose of enabling him to escape between Oct. 25 and Nov. 10, 1999.

MacCabe is to appear at 9:30 a.m. March 20 to set a trial date for Supreme Court.
