TRURO-Second-degree murder charges against Dustan Joseph Preeper have been dropped in connection with the July death of a Truro man.
Preeper, a 22-year-old from Noel, Hants County, was released from police custody Thursday afternoon following a brief appearance in Truro Provincial Court.
Crown Attorney Alison Brown asked judge Rick MacKinnon to withdraw the charges previously laid on July 9 following the death of 26-year-old Benjamin Denim Hare of Truro.
She said at this point in time there was insufficient evidence to proceed with the case.
