TRURO - Two sessions have been set to gather insight on moving Truro and Colchester County forward.
The roundtable was one of the things Truro Mayor Bill Mills suggested in May after hearing about a Facebook site labelling the town as the 'world's largest retirement village.'
Mills sent a letter to the media late Friday with details of the sessions, which will take place Sept. 15 and 22 between 6:30 and 9 p.m. in Truro town council chambers.
"The goal of these presentations is to provide mayor and council with insight from the people, by the people, on what they would like to see moving forward for a special population growth and retention convention - Colchester County Next Gen - to take place in the near future," Mills said.
The mayor is inviting people interested to submit or present their ideas in a one-page document answering a slew of questions, including:
• Why is the future of Colchester County important to you?;
• Why do you see growth and retention of young families and professionals as important for local municipalities to focus on?;
• Why do you want to see a Colchester County Next Gen convention take place?
"In short, please share with us why this idea and vision is important to you, and your creative ideas and solutions to help make this event a reality," Mills wrote.
Individuals will be given 10 minutes to present their one-page presentation before council. People who do not wish to present their suggestions, can submit their one-page presentation to bmills@truro.ca on or before Sept. 14.
