TRURO – The Camerons had just left for Cape Breton when the roughly 30-foot travel trailer they were hauling started fishtailing Wednesday afternoon.

"I just wanted to get it off the main highway," Mike told the Truro Daily News.

The Truro Heights couple got on Highway 102 in Millbrook at Exit 13A and Mike said he was only driving about 40 km/hr when the trailer started to fishtail. He decided to take the next exit and safely get off the highway.

"It just kept pushing and I had to swing it to get it off the highway there," he said standing on the exit ramp looking at the trailer on its side and the Ford truck upside down in the ditch.

"No one was hurt, that's the main thing," Mike added, as he waited for cranes to arrive to right the trailer.

He said the truck was almost stopped when the trailer tipped over. The truck wasn't damaged too badly and Cameron credited that to the rack in the truck bed.

Colchester RCMP, Cobequid firefighters and Department of Transportation and Infrastructure Renewal officials were called to the scene around 1 p.m. after receiving 911 calls about a single-vehicle crash. The highway was reduced to one northbound lane for two hours from near Exit 13A in Millbrook to Exit 13 in Truro.

Despite the heavy rain at the time of the crash many people pulled off the McClures Mills Connector at the top of the exit ramp to watch the tow truck and crane operators remove the vehicles.
