TRURO - Colchester County will be sending three municipal representatives to Devens, Mass. in August.
"It would be a great idea to have representation," county CAO Dan McDougall suggested during this week's council discussion.
In 2008, the municipality and the Colchester Regional Development Agency (CoRDA) entered into an industrial park twinning agreement with the Devens Enterprise Commission. The partnership was based on various similar characteristics between the two areas, including having a former military base, nearby villages and goals of looking to replace jobs and re-establish a supporting residential community.
The intent of the agreement was to build a partnership between CoRDA and the Devens Commission and their respective industrial parks, so that both parties glean ideas and learn from each other.
Coun. Bob White introduced a motion that McDougall, Mayor Bob Taylor and Coun. Bill Masters (who is one of council's CoRDA board representatives) be approved to attend the event "because it is a very important exchange."
The event is Aug. 16 and 17.
Last year, Devens sent representatives to visit Colchester County.
