BIBLE HILL - A pair of showstoppers are still on the docket for future years at the Dutch Mason Blues Festival.
Founder David DeWolfe said Wednesday Eric Clapton and Aretha Franklin are still in the plans as the festival continues to grow. Festival organizers have tried to attract the pair of internationally acclaimed artists for past years.
“You’re going to see all those people here,” DeWolfe said.
“We’re just taking our steps one at a time and building our pedigree.”
There are some logistical hurdles to overcome in order to attract the superstars. DeWolfe said he has been told for those type of artists to come here it is a three or four day commitment with travel time figured in. By comparison, the same artists can do upwards of five shows in the same time period in larger centres like Montreal and Toronto.
But with successful programs each year with the likes of Bonnie Rait and James Cotton performing, the show takes steps towards being able to bring in the superstars.
“We’re having an easier job as years go by because of the names that have already crossed our stage,” DeWolfe said.
Add in Cotton as the festival ambassador and it lends support to attracting high quality artists to central Nova Scotia.
