SALMON RIVER - Officials are investigating after a trailer was destroyed by fire early Tuesday morning.
Firefighters were called to the Christina Lane home at 6:26 a.m. The lane, located off East Prince Street, is home to a trailer court.
One man was inside the trailer when the fire occurred.
"When he awoke the living room area was in flames," Salmon River fire chief Carl Shaw told the Truro Daily News from the scene Tuesday morning.
"He got out and has been transported to hospital for observation."
He was later released from Colchester Regional Hospital and met with Canadian Red Cross officials in the afternoon. The cause of the fire was not known yesterday.
When firefighters arrived the front of the home facing the street was fully engulfed. About 45 firefighters from Salmon River and Valley-Kemptown worked hard to keep the fire from spreading to the nearby homes.
Siding on one of the nearby homes was melted due to the heat of the fire. Residents in the park were notified of the fire but were not evacuated.
Firefighters were on scene until about 9 a.m.
There is little left of the front half of the trailer with the roof collapsing and the walls demolished.
The back of the trailer sustained heat and smoke damage.
Firefighters from Bible Hill were on standby for Valley-Kemptown while Truro was on standby for Salmon River.
