SYDNEY, N.S. - A seniors' complex with about 100 residents was evacuated as a precaution Friday following a fire in a room.
Fire and police officials went to Vista Heights, a highrise in downtown Sydney, at about 2:30 p.m. after receiving a report of smoke coming from the roof.
The fire was restricted to a room on the 10th floor, but it triggered sprinklers throughout the building.
One female resident was taken to hospital to be treated for burns on her legs.
Residents were taken to a fire hall while firefighters extinguished the fire and the building was assessed for structural damage.
There was no word on when they would be allowed to return.
The cause of the fire was being investigated.
