ONSLOW - An off-duty Halifax Regional Police officer is dead following a two-vehicle collision Tuesday night on the Trans-Canada Highway 104.
Colchester County RCMP said the collision between a Ford Windstar minivan and a tractor-trailer occurred around 10:45 p.m. about two kilometres west of Exit 15, which connects traffic to Highway 102.

Halifax Regional Police identified the man as Const. Tony Carlisle, a Bible Hill resident.
The police investigation has revealed the van was heading west in the eastbound lane when it collided with the eastbound tractor-trailer.
Police said road conditions were wet and the visibility was about 300 metres in thick fog at the time of the collision.
On Wednesday morning the Department of Transportation and the RCMP blocked one eastbound lane to conduct a traffic analysis.
Colchester County RCMP, North East Nova RCMP Traffic Services, EHS paramedics and Onslow-Belmont firefighters responded to the call.

Such a tragedy. Not sure of the total
    circumstances, however we have lost
one fine policeman and an assistant
hockey coach. Far to young to die.
    My condolences to his family.
    May he rest in peace.

    Just a couple corrections:
It was about 2 km West of exit 15.
It was Onlslow/Belmont FF and not Debert FF that responded.

Drove by this accident scene on my way to NB this morning, and never even gave it a second thought until reading this story. Had the privilege of working alongside Tony for many years in Halifax - a terrific cop, an honorable man, and a fantastic family man. RIP, Tony, and condolences to family. You will be missed...
