TRURO HEIGHTS - A Moncton man, who allegedly drove erratically from New Brunswick to the Truro area Saturday, is facing criminal code charges.
Police in Memramcook, N.B., Amherst and Oxford received complaints from the public of a black car travelling between an estimated 150 and 170 km/h, weaving in and out of traffic and passing on the inside lane. Nova Scotia police were on the lookout for the vehicle after receiving information that the car was heading towards Nova Scotia around 11:30 a.m.
"In the meantime, he came to the attention of several drivers coming eastbound on Highway 104," said Sgt. Al Affleck, Colchester County RCMP.
"One of our vehicles met him on Robie Street with his four-way flashers on. He was heading back to the highway."
The man got back on Highway 102 at Robie Street only to get off at the next exit in Truro Heights. He cut off a driver at the lights, who had earlier phoned police to report the erratic driver, and pulled into the Irving Big Stop, where he was arrested by police.
No one was injured, but the man is facing dangerous driving charges under the Criminal Code of Canada.
The man, who turned 34 on Monday, was reported missing by his father Saturday after being missing for more than 24 hours.
Anyone who noticed the man driving
erratically and could identify the man or his vehicle is asked to contact Colchester RCMP at 893-6820.
