COMEAUVILLE, N.S. - A father and his adult daughter arrived for court shackled and handcuffed Monday as they both were accused of trying to arrange the murder of her estranged husband.
Herbert Boudreau, 70, and Nicole Ryan, 37, a teacher at Clare High School, were each granted bail during the appearance in provincial court.
Ryan, who identified herself in court as Nicole Doucet, was arrested March 27 and charged with conspiring to hire someone to kill Michael Martin Ryan, 43.
She returned Monday for a bail hearing after a court-ordered mental assessment.
"A report came back saying . . . that she was fit to stand trial," her lawyer, Joel Pink, said after Monday's bail hearing.
