TRURO – Voter turnout in Colchester County was higher than originally reported.

If all districts in the county had challengers, there would have ben 28,025 eligible voters. Because four districts had councilors acclaimed, the actual number of eligible voters is less by the number of voters in those four districts.

The total number of eligible voters in the 2012 election was actually 17,940. With a voter count of 6, 170, the actual percentage of voters was 34 per cent, not 22.

This compares favourably to the voter percentage of 30 per cent from the last municipal election.
