TRURO - The Truro Daily News stepped into a new realm and hosted its first live blog Friday morning.
Truro mayoral candidates Bill Mills and Keltie Jones joined reporters Raissa Tetanish and Monique Chiasson in the newsroom for a live question and answer session for readers through a service called ScribbleLive.
A total of 21 questions were asked to the candidates, with 19 of those coming from our readers who were watching the session online. Two of those questions came directly from the Truro Daily News.
While this was a new venture for the newspaper, results were positive.
The height of watchers came during the start of the session, while most page views, including unique page views, came at 1 p.m., two hours after our Q&A session closed for the day.
In total, there were more than 500 page views.
By using the live blog, photos of the candidates were incorporated as they responded. A poll was also included, asking viewers who they thought would win the mayoral race.
As of 6 p.m. Friday, 82 viewers voted, with Jones receiving 72 per cent of the votes and Mills 28 per cent.
To keep the momentum of live blogging going, the Truro Daily News will have a session for Colchester County residents to give reaction to tonight's election results.
From 10 to 11 p.m. tonight and 10 to 11 a.m. Sunday, readers can sound off on election results from the towns of Truro and Stewiacke, as well as Colchester County.
