TRURO - With still two days to go, more than one-third of eligible Truro voters have already cast their ballots for Saturday's municipal election.
And returning officer Jud Pearson said the election excitement has been evident in the calls and conversations he has had from the electorate.
"Big time, big time," he said. "The fact that we have a mayor's race always creates a lot of buzz and the fact that we have a race in every ward and in the school board, it just creates a lot of excitement. There's a lot more excitement in the town of Truro because of this and everyone's talking about it."
As of 5 p.m. Thursday, a total of 2,963 voters (33.3 per cent) had taken advantage of electronic voting.
The last election saw a total turnout of about 19 per cent.
Pearson said anyone who hasn't voted and requires assistance is encouraged to contact the returning office.
"They have two days left. If they need help they can call us (893-9252) or they can come to the civic building at 695 Prince (St.) to get help, get a letter or vote or all three."
Votes by ward:
Ward 1 - 34.1 per cent
Ward 2 - 33.2 per cent
Ward 3 - 32.6 per cent
