"During the (mayoralty) debate I said that the issue of the tennis court expansion was referred to an in-camera discussion when it was first discussed at council (which happened Sept. 4) and then came back to the council agenda (at the next meeting - Oct. 1), not that the council took an in-camera break during the Oct. 1 meeting," writes Jones. "The Truro Daily News report of the September meeting also noted that the council decided to ‘delay decisions until an in-camera meeting was held.'
"Mayor Mills did not attend the meeting on Sept. 4, but as the head of the council he had a responsibility to review those minutes and be familiar with what occurred. This accusation from Mr. Mills demonstrates his leadership style - a preference for pointing fingers and making controversial statements, rather than having conversations and verifying facts. If he had taken the time to have a simple conversation with me, he could have easily clarified the misunderstanding. "
