Experience: Member of the Truro planning advisory committee; participated in development of the new municipal planning strategy; volunteer with Built Heritage Tours; past volunteer with youth soccer; a founding member of the downtown residents' group.
Issues he would like to address: Upholding the town's new municipal planning strategy by ensuring it's interpreted as intended; protecting neighbourhoods from inappropriate development while promoting progressive growth in the downtown; listening to tenants' ideas and addressing their concerns; exploring energy alternatives to achieve cost-savings for consumers and businesses; getting a concrete plan to solve flooding now.
Why he would make a good candidate: He's an experienced member of Truro's planning advisory committee. His 34 years in business have given him the skills to listen, consult, make informed decisions and be accountable. Chisholm wants to gather as much information and as many viewpoints as possible before taking a stand. In addition, he's retired without conflict of interest issues, and brings an understanding of finance.
