TRURO - Mayoral candidates Bill Mills and Keltie Jones will square off in a debate on Oct. 9.

The event, which will take place at the Nova Scotia Community College, Truro campus, is being hosted by the Truro and District Chamber of Commerce.

It will begin at 6 p.m. and will also be streamed live on the Internet so anyone who wants to watch it can tune in.

"While we don't have the resources to have debates for every district in both Truro and Colchester, we felt it was important to do what we can in order to garner as much interest in the municipal elections as possible," chamber of commerce executive director Tim Tucker said in a news release.

"We would have organized a similar event for Colchester County and the Town of Stewiacke, but the race for mayor in both those municipalities has already been decided."

Chamber of commerce members, non-members and other community residents are invited to email potential questions to debate@trurochamber.com.
