TRURO - Truro resident Vince Roberts has announced his intention to run for Truro town council in October's municipal elections. The following is an introductory bio.

Who: Vince Roberts

Age: 64

Family: Wife Patricia, three children between the ages of 28 and 36; two grandchildren.

Running for: Ward 3

Resident of Truro since: Lifelong resident

Hobbies: Distance running, scuba diving and golfing

Previous council experience: Former deputy mayor of Truro for two years; town councillor for nine years; chairman of parks and recreation commission; member of the joint expenditure board for Truro, Colchester and Stewiacke, to name a few.

Town issues he'd like to see addressed: Transparency and accountability in municipal governance, re-establishing a sense of trust in fiscal leadership and encouraging community support for a long-term strategy.

Why he believes he's a good candidate: "I have a proven track record in the private and public sectors as well as non-governmental organizations to bring a renewed municipal experience and knowledge of prudent spending practices by government at all levels."
