Greenfield resident Heather Collicott has announced her intention to run for Colchester County council in the October municipal elections. The following is an introductory bio.
Who: Heather Collicott;
Age: 64
Running for: District 6
Resident of Colchester County for: All her life, 23 years in District 6.
Occupation: Retired supervisor for the Department of Community Services - Colchester district office.
Family status: Widow, has a daughter and a grandson.
Hobbies: Gardening, ATVing, walking in the woods and rivers with her grandson, building basic garden projects and travelling.
Previous council experience: None, but she attends as many council meetings as possible.
Major issue Collicott sees in the Municipality of Colchester: "Illegal dump sites. The people who do this in the county need to be made accountable. There are other options for the disposal of garbage and trash other than dumping it on some back road or other's property.
Also, thousands of litres of water are taken daily from the county water resource and sold back to us as bottled water. The county does not receive any direct revenue from the sale of this water. This needs to change."
Why she believes she would make a good candidate: "I have lived all my life in Colchester County, the last 23 years in the Valley/Greenfield area. I have the time to dedicate to working with the residents of District 6 on any issues/concerns that need to be resolved."
