CROWES MILLS - Crowes Mills resident Rick Johnson has announced his intention to run as a candidate in Colchester County in the October municipal election.

The following is an introductory profile:

Who: Rick Johnson

Age: 49

Family: Rick and his wife Katherine have been residents of Crowes Mills for the last 13 years.

Running For: District 9 councillor

Occupation: Certified financial planner

Community Involvement: Volunteer fire fighter, medical first responder, Crowes Mills fire zone lieutenant, all with the Onslow Belmont Fire Brigade.

Hobbies: Member of the Debert Golf Club

Council Experience: None

Why he would make a good candidate: "If elected, I would promote financial accountability and better communication with the taxpayers of District 9. Residents need to know that their tax dollars are being spent on projects that are beneficial to the community.

If I am the successful candidate for County Council District 9, I intend to host periodic open house meetings so that residents of District 9 are given a chance to meet with myself, provide their feedback and discuss issues concerning the community."
