CLARENVILLE, N.L. – Three men are being hailed as heroes after they reacted quickly to rescue an Arnold’s Cove, N.L. boy who had fallen through some ice.
Max Eddy spotted the young boy in the water while he was out clearing snow on Wednesday.
Eddy grabbed some rope from his shed and then rounded up neighbours Patrick Pendergrast and Baxter Wareham.
The trio went out onto the ice and despite falling through himself, Eddy was able to reach the boy.
Firefighter Trevor Hoskins says by the time the local volunteer department arrived, Eddy and the other men had already removed the child from the water.
The boy was taken to hospital in Clarenville and was reported to be in good condition.
