LAKE ECHO, N.S. - Two people are dead after a shooting in Nova Scotia on Saturday night.

RCMP Cpl. Scott MacRae says a 47-year-old woman and a 50-year-old man living together in Lake Echo died from gunshots.

He says police responded to a call just after 8 p.m. to a house on Ponderosa Drive, where they found the woman just inside the premises.

MacRae says police believed there was only the shooter left in the house so they didn't go back in until the house was secured just after midnight.

Once inside, he says police found the man, dead from gunshot wounds as well.

He says he doesn't believe it's a random act, but the investigation is ongoing.
