TRURO - Truro residents disobeying the town's winter parking restrictions are being ticketed.
Staff Sgt. Randy MacKenzie, of the Truro Police Service, said officers are handing out between a dozen and 15 tickets a night.
"We're still issuing tickets whether it's snowing or not," he said. "If it's snowing and the town crew calls (us), a vehicle parked on the road will probably be towed."
The town's winter parking ban is in effect between 1 and 7 a.m. from Dec. 1 to April 15 to assist in the snow removal process. The fine for parking on the street is $15 and the vehicle owner would be responsible for any bill if the vehicle is towed.

Why do the police issue tickets whan there is no snow? Don't they have better things to do? 12 - 15 tickets a night @ $15.00 over 4 months. If it snows 15 days out of 30 (although it doesn't), that's $3375.00 a month x 4 = $13,500.00. Sounds like one of Bill's tax grabs. The town should up the fine to about $300.00 and tow the dummies that park on the road when it's snowing thus holding up the snowplows....but how about just when it's snowing.
