TRURO - A Truro businessman wants to help others when he sells his cafÉs.
Ray Merriam has committed to donating $5,000 from the sale of the Fair Trade Community CafÉs to the new not-for-profit Out of the Cold Truro project.
The Truro shelter has had anywhere from one to four people using its facility since opening at the beginning of the year. The shelter is located in three different Truro churches and one of Merriam's employees, Mary Jane Jefferies, was one of its founders.
"I remember when I went to New York City when I was 17 years I was forced to live in an abandoned factory building for three months until I secured employment," Merriam said. "I certainly can appreciate what these people are up against, especially in troubled times."

What is the Cafes don't sell for $5000? Does he own the building or just the buisness name, what about the Bible Hill location which is really struggling, I heard?
