WALLACE - Friends and colleagues of Dr. Willard Boyle will gather in Wallace Thursday to celebrate his Nobel Prize win in physics.
The party will take place without Boyle as he and his wife Betty are in Stockholm participating in the week-long festivities surrounding the award.
The local celebration will be held at the Wallace and Area Museum from 1 to 4 p.m. and is open to everyone.
It will include special guests who will speak of Boyle's many achievements as well as his impact on their lives as a friend, neighbour or colleague.
Meanwhile, Boyle presented his Nobel lecture on Tuesday and will receive the Nobel Prize Medal, Nobel Prize diploma and document confirming the Nobel Prize from King Carl XVI Gustaf of Sweden a few hours before the celebration in Wallace.
The ceremony is followed by a banquet at the Stockholm City Hall for about 1,300
people.
The Nobel festivities are primarily an academic celebration focusing on science and literature.
