TRURO - Sounds of the season will ring through Cobequid Educational Centre this weekend at the school's annual bands Christmas concert.
Jeff Graham, conductor of the CEC Symphonic band, said it takes lots of work to prepare for the night but it will be an exciting performance.
"It's going to be a great show," he said.
The concert will bring together the CEC Symphonic band, Truro Junior High Concert Band and Jazz ensembles.
"It's a chance for people to kick off the holiday season and come relax with the music of the bands," said Graham.
The conductor said band numbers are up this year with about 60 students engaged in the program.
He said interest in music has increased since it became a credit course three years ago rather than being offered as an extra curricular activity as it had been in the past.
He said it is a beautiful experience to stand in front of his young musicians as they play.
"It's an amazing thing to be in front of them and conducting them after all the hard work they have put into learning their instruments," he said.
The concert will be held in the CEC Audio Visual Room Sunday beginning at 6 p.m. The concert is open for the enjoyment of the entire community.
Tickets cost $5 each and are available at the door.
