TRURO - Serena Ryder has already left an indelible impression throughout Canada, and now she's hoping to do the same in Truro.
Ryder's Indie album If Your Memory Serves You Well has been certified gold and
contributed to her winning the 2008 Juno Award for Best New Artist. Her music runs the gamut of emotions from betrayal to teasingly romantic.
Ryder, originally from Ontario, has said her music is about embracing the fact she's is imperfect and feeling comfortable with her emotions as a human being.
Ryder has been singing since childhood.
She cut her first Indie recording at 15. Three years later, seasoned by a routine that combined shows with local bands, work at a Cajun restaurant, and a few formal lessons in music, she sang nationally on CBC radio. Tours followed, taking her initially across Canada and stretching more recently to Australia and Europe.
Her performance in Truro will be at the Marigold Cultural Centre Nov. 24 at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $40 and can be purchased at the Marigold and MacQuarries Pharmasave.
