LONDONDERRY - This community's 'Thirsty Church' is one step closer to getting its cool drink of water.
The church, built in 1949, has been entered in a countrywide Internet contest offering the potential to win funding for community improvements. It has been dubbed the 'Thirsty Church' because it has never had running water, which is one of the improvements hoped to be achieved if it comes out as a cash winner.
On Sunday night, the church moved into the semifinal stage along with 61 other entries.
"And we are the only Nova Scotia candidate (remaining in the contest,)" said Amanda Langille, who is spearheading the community effort.
Two other local entries did not make it into the semifinals.
The next round of voting begins Wednesday and runs until Dec. 16.
Participants can vote daily and can register with the contest by Googleing the Thirsty Church.
