TRURO - The fanTAStic visual arts exhibit, presented by the Truro Art Society, is now open at the Nova Scotia Community College's McCarthy Gallery.
As part of the exhibit, Joy Laking will offer a one hour watercolour demonstration between 11 a.m. and noon at the McCarthy Gallery Friday. Laking, who has been a professional painter since 1972, will be doing a still life painting of candy.
Artist and sculptor Jo-Ann Shaw will be demonstrating the lost wax process as it pertains to casting into bronze. On hand will be the moulds that she has created and the wax castings that are the precursor to them being transformed into bronze. Having worked at a foundry in Calgary, Jo-Ann has personal knowledge of the process. Other Truro Art Society members will be in attendance, working in various media.
The show runs Monday to Friday until March 31. Artists' talks and demos will be held every Friday, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
