GLENHOLME - A car rear-ended a school bus here early Wednesday morning sending two young children to hospital for observation.
The crash occurred around 8:40 a.m. on Highway 2 near the Little Dyke Road, when an east-bound car could not slow down quick enough to avoid hitting the stopped bus with 17 students inside.
"We're extremely fortunate ... that someone wasn't hurt," said Sgt. Al Affleck, Colchester County RCMP.
The two high school-aged girls in the car were treated for minor injuries and bruises. Two of the students on the bus were taken to hospital for observation.
Police said the driver of the car was slowing down, but was blinded by the sun beaming in her windshield. The car was totalled while the bus received damage as well.
Another bus was brought to the accident scene to transport students to Chiganois Elementary School in Masstown.
The bus had its lights flashing at the time of the crash.
Affleck reminded residents to use caution while driving, particularly when school buses are on the road.
"When you see a bus, slow down because it's either going to be starting or stopping or picking up kids," he said.

it was only a mattter of time before something happened on this road, we live on this road and it's only a 50 limit and people fly up and down this road all the time. I hope that this is an eye opener for the RCMP and they watch this road more often.
