Your farmers’ market enjoyed an amazing year in 2012. Moving into the refurbished former fire hall brought new life to an historical building in the civic square. We hope the market has become a place to meet your old neighbours and form new friendships.
It’s been wonderful meeting so many inspiring entrepreneurs from Truro and area. The market has grown over the season to be a place where one can get the week’s groceries. We now offer organic milk, cheese, meats and, of course, all the fruits and vegetables native to our area. The market also offers some surprises with home baking, herbs and artisan crafts each week.
This year the season expanded with the opening in May and the closing weekend Dec. 22. You have not disappointed us. You have been out strong each weekend showing your support for our livelihoods. So many local farmers and artisans appreciate the support shown by the community.
To the community organizations that shared our space on market days, my sincerest hope is that you raised the money and awareness for your organization that was needed. To the community groups that rented the space on non-market days, I truly hope you had a wonderful time it was a pleasure to work with you all.
On behalf of the board of directors, vendors and staff of the Truro Farmers Market, Merry Christmas and all the best for a happy and prosperous new year.
Angel Nicholson is the site manager of the Truro Farmers' Market, on Young Street, Truro.
