STEWIACKE – A number of music festivals are happening on the Stewiacke River Park Road this summer, starting with bluegrass, this June.
The bluegrass festival from June 14 to 16 will feature music by Close to Home, New Ground, Shadow River, Windy Creek, Eight Wheel Drive, Megan Isenor and Connections, and Joe Casey and Westwind.
A Newfie & country jamboree is scheduled for July 12 and 13, complete with open-air dances and talent show. Friday night’s dance will feature Lukey’s Boat, with Isle Aux Morts Boys with Freeman Walters taking to the dance stage Saturday night.
Aug. 9 and 10 is scheduled as Country Music Weekend, featuring Frank Lowe of Franks Kind of Country as the host. Musicians will include Sidekicks, with special guests Rob Brown and Louisa Manuel.
A second bluegrass festival will be held Aug. 30-31 and Sept. 1, featuring Rhonda Vincent, Spinney Brothers, A New Shade of Blue, Bluegrass Tradition, The Douthwrights and Next of Kin.
Tickets for each can be purchased individually or as weekend passes. Camping is also available on site.
