VANCOUVER - A Vancouver high school student who created a hit list of other students on Facebook will not go to jail for his actions.
A judge has given the teenager a two year conditional sentence, saying the few days the former Templeton Secondary student originally spent in custody after his arrest was sufficient.
In addition to the sentence, the student has been ordered to have no contact with several people named in the list, as well as any teacher at Templeton, and he's also banned from possessing weapons.
The student was arrested last May and police also seized a shotgun, ammunition, collapsible metal batons and a machete.
The boy was charged with uttering threats and several weapons-related counts and later pleaded guilty to three of the charges.
There were 117 names on the hit list posted on Facebook, including 71 of students and staff at Templeton.
