TRURO - A public meeting to discuss an impact assessment report on Bass River Elementary School will be held this month.
The Chignecto-Central Regional School Board is considering combining the facility with West Colchester Consolidated School.
Findings from the report by the Bass River Elementary School Closure Committee will be presented Jan. 26 at 7 p.m. at West Colchester Consolidated School.
The committee recommends the school remain open for many reasons, including the small size allows teachers to know their students and it's used as the community C@P site. Also, every classroom at West Colchester Consolidated is in use, has poor air quality and no suitable playground for young students.
The schools are 500 meters apart. Bass River elementary serves 32 students in Grades Primary to 3; West Colchester Consolidated serves 130 students in Grades 4 to 9.
The school board must make its decision by March 31.
