TRURO - Local students are participating in a special workshop this week learning how to nail a job interview.
Twenty-eight students from across
the Chignecto-Central Regional School Board will participate in a workshop offered as part of the Building Futures for Youth program on Friday.
Grade 10 and 11 students from Cobequid Educational Centre, South Colchester Academy, Hants East Rural High School, Northumberland Regional High School, Pugwash District High School, Oxford Regional High School, Amherst Regional High School and North Nova Education Centre will participate.
"The ... program is a great opportunity for students to make quality connections within the construction industry, while exploring the career opportunities available in this field," said Don Hill, community-based learning consultant with the school board. Sixteen students will be accepted into the program and will receive seven weeks paid employment next summer, safety training at the Nova Scotia Community College, free personal protective equipment, the potential to earn three co-operative education credits, up to 300 apprenticeship hours and transportation assistance.
