A Pictou County man is in stable condition in a Halifax hospital after surviving a collision with two tractors-trailers early this morning.
RCMP Staff Sgt., Al Affleck said the unidentified man, who was driving a small pickup truck, was struck by a tractor-trailer around 12:30 a.m. as he tried to pull a u-turn into the median near the Masstown overpass.
The man, who was on the way to pick up his wife at the Robert Stanfield airport, missed his exit in the foggy conditions, Affleck said, and decided to turn around after realizing he was lost.
The Lyons Brook-area man, whom Affleck said was conscious at the scene, told police he did not see the first tractor-trailer that struck him as it was in his blind spot when he turned. A second tractor-trailer that came along directly after, then also impacted the small truck.
Neither tractor-trailer driver was injured.
The injured man is recovering at the QE II Health Sciences Centre.
