AMHERST--Jason Blanch, Green Party candidate in the riding of Cumberland-Colchester-Musquodoboit Valley, has issued a video 'Climate Challenge' to the Prime Minister of Canada. Blanch, along with local Green supporters, is calling on Stephen Harper to attend the make-or-break United Nations (UN) Climate Negotiations in Copenhagen where world leaders are charged with delivering a planet-saving climate treaty. It has been reported that the Prime Minister will, yet again, skip out on the UN meetings.

The Video Challenge calls on Harper to attend the Copenhagen meetings if Blanch can triple the Greens' vote in his riding.

"Government policy continues to support the status quo, which is characterized by the systematic destruction of life-sustaining ecosystems in exchange for short term gains, usually only seen by corporate executives and shareholders," said Blanch. "It is time the government takes some initiative in protecting the environment. Canada has fallen off the world-stage."
