BIBLE HILL - Expanding the Bible Hill fire hall is going to cost a lot more than originally anticipated.
The Village of Bible Hill awarded the contract to expand the 2,800 square foot hall by 2,500 square feet to Fowler Construction, the lowest of four bidders. The total cost of the project is $536,000 while the original estimate for the work in December was $425,000.
"The construction costs are what caused the escalation," said Christine Blair, village commission chairwoman.
The project is being cost shared by the village ($277,000), Bible Hill Fire Brigade ($10,000) and the province's emergency service providers' fund ($249,000). Construction is expected to start by the end of the month.
