Governments to pick up $5.7-million cost of Cape Breton water improvements

HALIFAX - Several levels of government will contribute funding to improve drinking-water systems in seven Cape Breton communities.
Upgrades are scheduled for Port Hawkesbury, Inverness, Port Hood, Mabou, Judique, Whycocomagh and Little Narrows.
Premier Rodney MacDonald and ACOA minister Peter MacKay announced the $5.7-million investment on Sunday.
The federal and provincial governments are each contributing one-third of the total, or $1.9 million.
The Town of Port Hawkesbury and municipalities in Inverness and Victoria counties will fund the other third of the cost of their projects.
