TRURO– A popular Easter egg hunt planned for Victoria Park on Saturday has been cancelled, however, there are still special events being held in its place.
Children who had a ticket to participate in the egg hunt can go to the park between 11 a.m. and noon on Saturday to pick up their treat bags and meet the Easter bunny. The event is open to children ages 10 and younger and participants must have tickets to get their treat bags.
“We don’t want children to miss out on the event entirely, so weather permitting, we’ll be at the park on Saturday,” said Cathy von Kintzel, special events and culture co-ordinator for Truro Parks, Recreation and Culture.
von Kintzel said Mother Nature is to blame for the change of events: there is too much snow on the ground in the park to hold the hunt portion of the event. She said the snow will make finding the small plastic eggs difficult for hunters and eggs could get buried in the snow, meaning staff won’t be able to properly clean the park following the hunt.
Ticket holders who don’t make it to the park on Saturday are encouraged to pick up their treat bags at Douglas Street Recreation Centre during regular business hours next week, Monday to Thursday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
