TRURO – A special gathering celebrating African Heritage Month will be held on Monday in Truro.

The heritage month kickoff is rescheduled from this past Monday when it was cancelled due to inclement weather.

The event will be held at the Truro town council chambers in town hall on Prince Street. Things get underway at noon and will include speeches, a proclamation signing, unveiling of the official heritage month poster and a reception.

The gathering, which is sponsored by the Town of Truro and the African Nova Scotian North-Central Network, embraces the theme ‘Then and Now: Our Journey Continues.’

It’s the 29th year the province is celebrating the heritage month.

The gathering on Monday is open to the public.
