The Timberlea Titans defeated the Truro Freightliners 26-12 in bantam football action on Friday.
Perhaps the Timberlea Titans believed that their game against the Truro Freightliners would be an easy roll, after scoring two quick touchdowns in the first quarter and taking an early lead with little resistance.
However, the Freightliners dug deep and produced their best team effort to date, scoring two touchdowns of their own and holding the Titans off the scoreboard for much of the remainder of the game. The Freightliners had two huge opportunities at the Timberlea goal line when down a mere 20-12, but the Freightliners could not penetrate the Timberlea defense at those crucial moments. The Titans added another touchdown with seconds left of the clock to ice the game, but the Freightliners should be proud of themselves as the Titans thought they would be in for an easy game and found themselves in a dogfight all night.
The Freightliners are on a bye week this week and will get two weeks to prepare for the struggling Halifax Argos on Oct. 19 at 8:30 p.m. at the TAAC Grounds in Truro.
