DEBERT – The public’s assistance is required to solve a series of property crimes in Debert and Economy.
Colchester RCMP is investigating the crimes which took place last Thursday. At about 10 pm., two vehicles, both older model Chevrolet Cavaliers, had been damaged in the parking lot of the Bingo hall in Economy. Both vehicles had their driver's side windows smashed out and ignitions were damaged.
A few hours later, a vehicle fire was reported in the parking lot of the Tim Hortons in Debert. A Honda Civic was on fire when police and fire crews arrived. Again, the driver's side window was smashed out and police suspect the fire was an act of arson. The vehicle suffered moderate damage.
Also during this same evening, two older model pick-up trucks, a GMC Sierra and a Ford F150, were stolen from a property in the 3400 block of Highway 2 in Economy. A man was arrested later in the evening by Truro Police Service while in possession of one of the trucks.
The other truck was recovered near Great Village.
Colchester RCMP continues to investigate and asks anyone with information to call the RCMP at 893-6820 or Crimestoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
