NORTH RIVER - Brantford, Ont., is the Canadian under-21 women's fastpitch champions.
The Bobcats defeated British Columbia 4-2 on Sunday afternoon in nine innings to win the national crown.
B.C. tied the game in the bottom of the seventh inning, however, Brittany Hicks stroked a two-run single with one out in the top of the ninth inning to plate Logan White and Erikia Polidori for the decisive runs.
Brantford's player of the game was winning pitcher Stacy Cox. B.C.'s player of the game was Jamie Randall.
The Bobcats defeated Saskatoon Synergy 11-3 in the semifinal.
The host North River Gators lost 9-5 to Mississauga, Ont., in the consolation semifinal on Saturday night. Howevre, the Gators were awarded the consolation round bronze medal, while Mississauga earned gold and New Brunswick took silver.
North River posted a 1-5 record in the round robin.
