Truro men charged with sexual assault to stand trial

TRURO - Two men charged with sexually assaulting a Truro woman have been committed to stand trial following a day-long preliminary inquiry in provincial court.
Michael Shane Paris, 47, of 563 Young St., and Robert Henry Desmond, 49, of 66 Walker St., Apt. 4, are to appear in Nova Scotia Supreme Court on Dec. 15 to set a trial date.
The two are jointly charged with sexual assault, sexual assault with an electric razor, assault causing bodily harm during a sexual assault, unlawful confinement, assault and uttering threats to cause injury or death.
Desmond remains in custody while awaiting his next court appearance.
Paris is free on bail.
The incidents are alleged to have occurred on Sept. 19. The identity of the alleged victim is protected by a publication ban.
