  • Details : Visual Voice Fine Art is proud to present another performance by popular band "Mother of Girl". The band is back by popular demand to the Truro art gallery, where they had a concert in October, receiving a standing ovation from the audience, delighting young and old alike. This time they have prepared a whole new set of songs, including an Icelandic lullaby, some operatic power pop and some new touching melodies. They are joined this time by celebrated author Shashi Bhat, writer of "The Family Took Shape", and will interweave readings and music in a brand new collaboration. Mother of Girl is the sound child of Ann Denny, Ryan Veltmeyer and John Snow. Its an opera folk pop jazz creation with bel canto singing, trombone duets, and a multitude of keyboards and electro found instruments. Starting out at the experimental music festival Open Waters in January 2013, they have since toured to the Guelph Jazz Festival, played JazzEast's Out Like A Lion, Halifax's Nocturne, White Rabbit: open air art project and created a "chambered nautilus" installation piece for the Creative Nova Scotia Awards. Published author Shashi Bhat's was a finalist for the 2010 RBC Bronwen Wallace Writers’ Trust Award and is an Assistant Professor of Creative Writing at Dalhousie University. Concert is FREE to attend, donations are welcome. The gallery is a small intimate space with limited seating, so we recommend arriving early.
