Debert Skating Registration

  • Details : The Debert Skating Club shall be hosting registration for their CanSkate and their Star Skate Program. This year we will also be having a mini ice show at the end of the year to display what the children have done. Registration for all these programs shall take place Saturday October 25th 2014 from 1-3pm at the West Colchester Arena. The Debert Skating Club feels most fortunate to have Laura Coleman as the leader of our skating program this year. Laura, of Amherst, is the 29 year old daughter of John and Janice Coleman. She began skating at the young age of 2yrs and skated competitively throughout Atlantic Canada for more than 10 years. More recently, Laura skated professionally with ''Disney on Ice' performing throughout the world in such shows as Monsters Inc., Mickey and Minnie's Magical Journey and High School Musical The Ice Tour. Laura is happy to be back home in Nova Scotia and is proud to be coaching skating to children of all ages, sharing her passion for the ice with each of them. There will be some skating supplies on hand as well as Kid Sport Grant Information! Skating begins November 1st 2014 and goes until March 21st 2014 (20 weeks) at the West Colchester Arena. If unable to make registration you can register on November 1st or contact the president of the Debert Skating Club. Tim Crofts in Concert at Truro's Visual Voice gallery

  • Details : TIM CROFTS IN CONCERT THIS SATURDAY Come to the gallery this Saturday, October 25th at 7:30pm, to hear the keyboard solo concert of the great experimentalist and improviser: Tim Crofts is a free jazz pianist with a Bachelor of Music in Composition from Dalhousie University, Halifax and a Masters of Music in Contemporary Improvisation from New England Conservatory of Music in Boston, Massachusetts. He studied with Hankus Netsky, Ran Blake, and Joe Maneri, and formed the Consensus quartet performing improvised chamber music in the style of Anton Webern and Morton Feldman. Since returning to Halifax in 2005, Crofts has been active in both the performance and education of improvised music. He formed the Live Animal Trio, co-directed the SuddenlyLISTEN workshop at Dalhousie University, and is a faculty member of the Halifax Jazz Festival's Creative Music Workshop. Tickets are $10 at the door. 100% of proceeds go to the performers. Doors open at 7 pm. Limited seating. The gallery is located at 128 King Street in downtown Truro, Nova Scotia.
