Professional qualifications: A well-known educator, Casey has taught hands-on in the classroom at Alice Street School, served as principal at North River Elementary School, assistant superintendent of Chignecto Central Regional School Board, as well as a university instructor at Acadia University.

Volunteer work: Central Nova Industry Education, Valley Recreation Association, district health authority chairwoman, economic task force with chamber of commerce, Valley United Church youth committee, Truro Boys and Girls Club, Nova Scotia Educational Administrators Association.

Legislative experience: 2006 to present. She has also held two positions in cabinet as Minister of Health and Minister of Education.

Professional qualifications: Served in the RCAF for 22 years, retired, then practiced law with a mid-sized Halifax law firm and a major bank; fully retiring in 2004.

Volunteer work: Scouting, minor hockey, has served on the executive of the Canadian Brier (2003) as chairman of Volunteers and the Canadian Olympic curling trials (2005) as the vice-president of volunteers and special events. He has served on various national and provincial boards and committees in Colchester County and Truro he was a committee member of the Colchester Canada Games Bid and a director of the North Shore River Restoration committee, past chairman (five years) of the Colchester East Hants Health Authority, chairman of the Tatamagouche annual Curling Bonspiel (past eight years), served on the board of directors of CoRDA, project manager - North Shore Sportsfield project and past-president of the North Shore Recreation Centre.

During his time in the legal profession, he served as executive director of the Human Rights Commission and the Law Society of Prince Edward Island.

Currently managing a small business, Laking Gallery, in Portapique.

Volunteer work: He has also served on the board of the Colchester - East Hants District Health Authority, the Health Association of Nova Scotia, and on the Advisory Committee to the Ministers of Natural Resources and Finance.
