TRURO - Truro will be one of the final stops today for 36 cyclists who are crossing the country as part of the second annual Sears National Kids Cancer Ride.
The cyclists hope to raise $1.5 million for childhood cancer research and programs across Canada. They will be making a stop at the Sears Truro Mall parking lot from 10:30-11:30 a.m. where a BBQ for people wishing to stop and meet the riders will be held.
In addition, Sears Truro store manager Chris McPhee will be having his head shaved as part of the store's efforts to double last year's fundraising total of $1,500.
The cyclists will then conclude their 7,000 kilometre journey from Vancouver by dipping their wheels in the Atlantic Ocean at Point Pleasant Park in Halifax this afternoon
