Fashion show held by Marj Hatherly's Consignment Shop aids Rebekah Lodge

Dot Bell models an outfit at the fashion show recently held in the Royal Canadian Legion as a fundraiser for the Freedom Rebekah Lodge, Tatamagouche.

The Royal Canadian Legion Hall in Tatamagouche was the filled will ladies set to view the latest fashions one evening last week.

Edie Leet and Margie Langille coordinated the show as a fundraiser for the Freedom Rebekah Lodge #63, Tatamagouche.

Fourteen women of all ages, under the direction of Marj Hatherly, modeled the fashionable clothes from her shop in the village, Marj's Consignment Shop on Main Street.

Hatherly is well known for her fashion knowledge and she gave a delightful commentary of each outfit as models "walked the runway" in the Legion Hall. Clothing on show was offered for sale at the close of the evening and later from the consignment store. Open hours for the business are from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday for the summer season.

The youngest model, Gracie, was also in charge of music and distribution of door prizes. Businesses and individuals on the North Shore donated 40 gift bags of prizes for the draws. Tickets were sold at the door for a 50/50 draw and the lucky winner, Bonnie Church of Tatamagouche, received a sum of $185.50.

During the intermission, complimentary sweets, donated by members of the Rebekah Lodge, were passed around. Thanks is extended to Beverly Mingo for operating the bar during the evening.

“We were pleased to take in $1,650 for the event in aid of our lodge and want to thank Marj Hatherly, the models, those who donated door prizes, everyone who attended and all who helped in any way to make the evening such a success," Leet says.

Another fashion show from the Consignment Shop is tentatively scheduled for July 30 at the Brule Point Golf Clubhouse. Watch for more details in July.
